One must obtain Import – Export Code registration for importing products and then selling them in different states after incorporation of any business entity.

To register under IEC, An online application can be made to DGFT department with basic details of business along with requisite documents. Further, only one IEC can be issued against a single PAN.

GST Registration is PAN based and State specific registration hence with respect to your query there is no need to apply for new GST registration in case you want to start an e-commerce site. A person can do multiple businesses under one GST registration. However, for starting new business, an amendment is required in GST registration application by making addition of that business activity.

Once you file GST application filed successfully and ARN number will be generated, GST department will review your application within 3 working days, which is general response time. However, if officers are unable to review the application within 3 working days then they have to review the application within 5-7 working days.
