Core Concept and Setting
Woven Echoes are special items that players acquire by exploring new procedurally generated side zones called Tombs and Cemeteries of the Erased. These zones are filled with the Weaver’s experiments—flawed creations and captured souls wrapped in cocoons. When players break these cocoons, the released souls possess nearby enemies, making them stronger with new abilities and increased stats. Defeating these possessed enemies yields Memory Amber, a new currency essential for Woven Faction progression.
How Woven Echoes Work
Players can find Woven Echoes as drops inside Tombs and Cemeteries or purchase them from Masque, the Woven faction vendor, located at the Haven of Silk hub, using Memory Amber. There are 36 different Woven Echoes, each offering unique content such as new boss fights, crafting rewards, and gameplay mechanics. These echoes can be added to the player’s timeline via the Weaver’s Altar found in Cemeteries, allowing customization of the Monolith of Fate runs with varied and challenging modifiers.
Content Variety and Challenges
Woven Echoes introduce a diverse range of content, including encounters with new endgame bosses like the Draal Queen—an enormous insectoid broodmother—and the Antipode Dragon, a paradoxical creature of fire and ice. Additionally, some echoes enhance existing bosses, such as Uber Aberroth, a more difficult version of the classic boss Aberroth, providing fresh challenges and exclusive unique items obtainable only through these encounters.
Progression and Customization
Advancing in the Woven Faction unlocks the Weaver Tree, a passive skill tree that grants players points to customize rewards, difficulty, and mechanics within their Echoes. This system offers players more control over their endgame experience, allowing them to tailor runs to their preferred playstyle and challenge level. The Woven Echoes also interact with the Echo Web, enabling strategic placement and combination of echoes to optimize outcomes.
Significance in Season 2
The introduction of Woven Echoes and the Woven Faction represents the largest endgame overhaul in Last Epoch to date. It enriches the Monolith of Fate system with procedurally generated side zones, new currencies, faction progression, and a deep crafting system. This update significantly enhances replayability and strategic depth, making Season 2 a landmark expansion for the game.
