Filipino-American designers showcased anew their collection at the Phoenix fashion week in Arizona.
Yen, Albert Andrada, and Rocky Gathercole wowed the crowd with their head-turning creations.
Gathercole closed the event with his jaw-dropping, over-the-top-collections.
Gathercole had dressed up Hollywood celebrities like Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, and Jennifer Lopez. He also designed the much-talked-about, see-through gown worn by Philippine celebrity Kristel Romero at the Star Magic Ball last year.
This year, he showcased a black and white collection.
"It’s more of old Hollywood style. Ginawa ko siyang very now yung style. Iba ang mood ko this time. Gusto express ang feeling ko day and night," Gathercole said.
Andrada also used Philippine-inspired embellishments, mostly pearls.
"It’s more of a refined, typical Filipina but a very glamorous one and who is opulent, rich, but remains a Filipina beauty as well,” said Andrada.
For Andrada's finale, Miss Arizona USA 2015 Maureen Montagne says she felt lucky to wear his gown.
"This is my first time officially walking for a Filipino designer. I love his collection. I have worn Rocky before and I have modeled for Rocky in the Philippines but this would be my first time wrapping a Filipino at Phoenix Fashion Week," Montagne said.
Filipinos showed full support to the Pinoy designers.
"It’s about the beadwork which the Filipinos are well-known for," said fashionista Joanne Francisco Weiss.
Model Mary Ryelle Espiritu added, "I just think Filipinos have great minds and they have intricate work and it’s getting far and globally. And I love their designs."Read more at:prom dress shops | formal dresses
