The current UP police recruitment system was established in 1860 as a result of the recommendations of the police commission, which was led by the H.M court, and was enacted as the police recruitment act of 1861. Therefore, H.M court was appointed as the first Inspector General of police of the northwest province and Awadh , which is now in Uttar Pradesh .
