Parks and Rec is Better than the Office

Everyone keeps telling me it's close, but they think the Office is better. However, IMO the comedy is about the same, but the characters in Parks and Rec are more consistently well written (except for Ann), the cinematography and editing is more well done and professional. The writing has some pretty compelling character arcs. It's concise and says what it needs to say in a short period of time, despite the number of seasons. The first season of Parks wasn't great, but it was decent and I don't think it deserves to be skipped.
https://workingfordream.blogspot.com/2019/07/tsdbsxjsmzjkslsds.html It gives more context to the show even if some of the characters weren't written well yet (honestly I hate Andy is season 1 but he becomes my favourite character after that) and it has 'The Pit' in the last episode which is a hilarious song which doesn't make sense without watching the season. She's a big reason I don't like the show. https://www.reddit.com/user/meiling33/comments/cd4dtu/tsdbsxjsmzjkslsds/ If one of your main characters is so awfully written, like, it reflects poorly. You don't see Community or The Office or Brooklyn 99 or It's Always Sunny suffering with a really bland, awful and boring main cast member.

Totally agree, and will add that I actually liked Parks a lot more after Ann leaves (not Chris though, I adore him). I never felt that Ann belongs in Parks past the second season, and even then, the first two seasons were the worst two. https://workingfordream772026288.wordpress.com/2019/07/14/tsdbsxjsmzjksl... One of the strengths of P&R imo is that it used its characters very well. If we put Jon-Ralphio in less capable hands, he would have been completely insufferable and annoying. But Parks knew how to use Jon-Ralphio just enough that I enjoyed every moment he had on screen. For me, Ann Perkins is the exception to this.

Somehow, I find Rashida Jones pretty likable even though I can't stand either of these characters. The characters from the Office became caricatures of themselves after a while. https://workingfordream.joomla.com/index.php/2-uncategorised/18-tsdbsxjs... Like Dwight, Kevin, Oscar, Creed...everyone was just so over the top.Parks & Rec never go that way they all seemed to change, but in a good way. A good example is Andy, who became more of a doofus over time, but grew in other ways as well.Plus, I know series finales in comedies are almost always fan-service, but the Office COMPLETELY changed their character’s behavior at the end, whereas Parks just highlighted the best parts about each of them.I agree. Parks and Rec make it easy to like most of them. And the ones that are unlikeable are supposed to be that and aren’t painted to be something different; Mona Lisa for one.

Office characters are infuriating. Unpopular opinion but I can’t stand Michael. I don’t find the “I’m so proud of you” line and few moments of decency enough to wipe the slate of his sexism, racism, inappropriate behavior, and narcissism. https://www.nobedad.com/article/tsdbsxjsmzjkslsds-1/c=e075b9d120 I know he’s beloved and I hear all the “yeah but he gets better” but I don’t buy it.They are both good, but it's a matter if preference- the humor in The Office is more biting and awkward, and more subtle (for the first half of the show at least), and Parks and Rec is more structured and more like a traditional comedy. The Office doesn't quite have as strong characters as Parks and Rec because it is trying to take a more realistic pov with the film crew and all. Parks and Rec of course doea this too but it isn't as apparent. For me it was just that I found Leslie Knope a far more enjoyable “main character” than Michael Scott. I couldn’t stand Michael half the time as I found him merely a nuisance, petty, and annoying. He had his moments, https://workingfordream.tumblr.com/post/186282165524/tsdbsxjsmzjkslsds yes, but I was mostly in for the other characters (particularly Jim and Dwight, of course). While Leslie I found her to be more endearing with her bountiful energy and optimism. Then the rest of the cast is just absolutely phenomenal. I cannot pick one over the other. All of them are iconic to me in their individual ways.
