Bail of a man charged with cheating and forgery, denied by the court
Rajesh Khairatilal Bajaj, activist, and co-founder of the Bhrashtachar Virodhi Gandhigiri Jan Andolan, was denied bail by a Pune sessions court on Thursday. In October, he was detained on charges of defrauding and falsification. He was arrested on charges of falsifying documents in order to obtain a property plot in Kothrud held by a developer and his partner.
The court noted that Bajaj's real name is different, that despite not having a license to practice law, he has disputed several cases as a lawyer, and that his release could have an impact on the ongoing inquiry.
