Another situation a parent needs to recognize is the inability to remember a long set of directions. Children with ADHD have a hard time paying attention to any one thing for very long.
Listening to a parent outline a list of chores they need to complete is generally too much for them to retain. Instead, give the directions in small chunks. Two to three steps is usually acceptable. It is helpful to write out the daily routine and post in a place the child can quickly reference.
