What are stainless steel castings?
Stainless steel casting is a metalworking process that produces custom stainless steel parts. It works by pouring melton stainless steel into a mold to solidify, resulting in a solid stainless steel part in the desired shape.
Compared to other processes, stainless steel casting can produce complex components with fine detail and good dimensional accuracy, reducing or eliminating post-machining operations. It is also a good alternative to welded manufacturing processes, as multiple stainless steel parts can be cast into one piece, saving the time and cost of additional welding or assembly.
Where the properties and corrosion resistance of steel are required, consider stainless steel castings. So like other cast steel alloys, stainless steel is one of the commonly used materials in foundry production.
Stainless Steel Casting Process
The stainless steel casting process involves melting metal, forming it, and using continuous heating or cleaning to create high-quality parts. Stainless steel castings are a better choice than other castings when ordinary castings cannot provide sufficient strength and impact resistance characteristics. The process produces high-precision net-shape castings without machining. Usually we can control precision stainless steel castings with tolerance CT5-6. Another advantage is that through this process, our foundries can provide defect-free stainless steel castings.
