Marble is a porous material, so it is easy to be stained. When cleaning, use less water. Wipe it regularly with a slightly damp cloth with mild detergent, then dry and polish with a clean soft cloth. Severely worn marble furniture is difficult to handle. It can be wiped with steel wool and then polished with an electric polisher to restore its luster. Or wipe carefully with a liquid scrubbing agent. You can use lemon juice or vinegar to clean the stains, but it is best not to leave the lemon on it for more than 1 to 2 minutes. Repeat the operation if necessary, then wash and dry. For minor scratches, special marble cleaners and care agents are available.
For old or valuable marble furniture(www.furnituremarble.com/), professionals should be asked to handle it. Painted marble furniture must be treated with a paint stripper. It should be done according to the product instructions, and several layers may need to be applied. Once all paint has been removed, it is wiped down with steel wool and polished with a power sander. For cosmetic, tea and tobacco stains, apply hydrogen peroxide with a few sticks of ammonia, leave on for two hours, then rinse and dry. For oil stains, use ethanol (alcohol), acetone (wood spirit) or lighter electric oil to wipe, then clean and dry.
