If your K&N Recharger Kit includes a cleaning solution, mix it with water according to the kit's instructions. You can use mild dish soap if a specific cleaning solution is not available.
Soak the Filter:
Submerge the cabin air filter in the cleaning solution or soapy water. Let it soak for 10-15 minutes to loosen dirt and contaminants.
Gently Clean the Filter:
Gently agitate the filter with your hands or a soft-bristle brush to help dislodge dirt and debris. Do not scrub vigorously, as this can damage the filter material.
Rinse the Filter:
Rinse the filter thoroughly with a hose or under a gentle stream of low-pressure water. Rinse from the clean side of the filter to the dirty side to push out contaminants.
Dry the Filter:
Allow the filter to air dry completely. Do not use compressed air or heat sources to speed up drying, as this can damage the filter.
Reapply Filter Oil:
Once the filter is completely dry, apply K&N air filter oil from your Recharger Kit or a similar product. Follow the kit's instructions for applying the oil evenly across the filter. Be sure not to over-oil it.
Reinstall the Filter:
After applying the oil, let it soak into the filter for about 20 minutes.
Reinstall the cleaned and oiled filter back into the cabin air filter housing in your vehicle.
Dispose of Waste Properly:
Dispose of any cleaning solution, water, and waste materials in an environmentally friendly manner.
Remember that the frequency of cleaning and re-oiling your K&N cabin air filter will depend on your driving conditions and the manufacturer's recommendations. Always refer to K&N's specific instructions for your filter model, as the cleaning process may vary slightly for different products.
