DRX Tekken Team Becomes the First in Korea to Qualify for the eSports World Cup
The Tekken team of DRX, a global e-sports company, took second place and third place in the first global official competition, 2024 EVO Japan, held on the 29th with 'Tekken 8', released in January, and ranked among the top four in this competition.
Secured the right to participate in the Saudi e-Sports World Cup.
This is an even more valuable result because it was achieved at the EVO Japan tournament, in which 1,247 Tekken professional and amateur players from around the world participated in Tekken 8 alone.

In the case of Tekken 8, the best player in Tekken 8 was determined over the past three days, starting with the preliminary round on April 27th.
The round of 128 was selected on the first day, the TOP 6 were selected on the second day, and the winner was selected through the final match on the 29th, the last day.
The DRX Tekken team made it to the top 6 with three members, Seon-woong “Lohi” Yoon, Seong-ho “Chanel” Kang, and Byeong-ho “Infested” Park, making it to the winner’s bracket.

EVO, the world's largest and most prestigious fighting game competition, is comprised of EVO USA, which started in 1996 and is held in Las Vegas, USA in July of this year, and EVO Japan, which started in Japan for the first time in 2018.
Meanwhile, the Saudi e-Sports World Cup, hosted by Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, announced on its official SNS on the 17th that the total prize money of the tournament will be more than $60 million (KRW 83 billion).
This is an unprecedented amount in the history of e-sports competitions, surpassing the $45 million prize money of 'Gamers 8', the predecessor to the e-sports World Cup held last year.
The e-Sports World Cup is an e-sports competition hosted by Saudi Arabia at the national level in Riyadh, the capital.
A total of 19 events, including Tekken and Street Fighter 6, have been announced so far, and additional events are scheduled to be revealed before the competition is held.
The Saudi eSports World Cup plans to select additional players for Street Fighter 6 and Tekken 8 to advance to the eSports World Cup through several competitions after EVO Japan.
Except for Lohi and Chanel, who were confirmed to advance to the e-Sports World Cup through EVO Japan, the remaining DRX fighting game players, including Tekken's Knee and Street Fighter 6's Lesha (Shin Moon-seop), will participate in the Dream Hack event held in Dallas, USA in June.
The plan is to secure additional qualification for the Saudi e-Sports World Cup by participating in.
