Advertising in the Trademark Journal a stage of trademark registration process and is also a signal of acceptance of mark by the trademark registry.

The purpose of publication in the journal is to invite any opposition for the registration of the mark applied. During its publication for period of four months, a third party may raise an opposition, which will be disposed off[1] by the replies and hearing process.

During its publication as well, the applicant can use the ™ sign with the mark. Unless the mark is abandoned by the registry or withdrawn by applicant before registration, the applicant can continue using the ™ sign.

If there is no opposition raised, the certificate of registration will be issued for the mark. Receiving the registration certificate, the owner can use ® sign with the trademark.
