Today, Jagex has laid out plans to tackle the problem

The RuneScape games will be Steamforged's twelfth adaptation of a video game for tabletop RuneScape Gold For Sale. Previous adaptations include The Monster Hunter: World board game that earned PS3.4 million on Kickstarter in 2021.

The exchange of virtual currency in exchange for real money could be a source of trouble for many online games, causing disruption to in-game economies, disrupting player experiences and turning games into pay-to-win scenarios. In RuneScape the trading of its digital 'gold' has caused a lot of problems and has led to bots mining the resources, and allegations that the ability to purchase 'bonds' within the game for real-world money amounts to gambling.

Today, Jagex has laid out plans to tackle the problem. In a blog article, credited to "The RuneScape Team", the publisher states that "gold purchased via RWT is a major issue for any online game that has the possibility of trading currency" and, despite the fact that its "Anti-Cheating Team has taken a number of steps in the fight against RWT sellers in as well out", it will be adopting stronger measures as of immediate effective.

In the context of the "growing team and enhanced technology", Jagex says it will no longer be targeting sellers of gold and resources via RWT but also buyers Old School RuneScape Gold. Its goal is to cut down the demand, as well as the supply.
