Sega has unveiled Sonic x Shadow Generations, a remastered edition of the original Sonic Generations that brings fresh levels centered around Shadow the Hedgehog. The January 2024 PlayStation State of Play surprised enthusiasts with a preview of Sonic x Shadow Generations.
Originally launched in 2011 to commemorate the Sonic franchise's 20th anniversary, Sonic Generations featured nostalgic levels spanning the series' history, incorporating two distinct gameplay styles. Classic Sonic's levels echoed the structure of the 2D 16-bit Sega Genesis games, while Modern Sonic's levels drew inspiration from the 3D games. The upcoming remaster, Sonic x Shadow Generations, offers fans another opportunity to relish Sonic Generations, now enhanced with a new series of levels experienced through the eyes of Shadow the Hedgehog. Set to release in Autumn 2024, Sonic x Shadow Generations boasts remastered graphics and runs at a smooth 60 frames per second.
