The Incoloy 825 pipe is highly corrosion resistant. It has a high content of nickel, enough to withstand chloride ion stress corrosion cracking and a very robust austenite structure. The molybdenum and copper levels allow the alloy to withstand reducing agents and acids. Chromium provides resistance to oxidizing conditions, such as solutions for nitric acid, nitrates, and oxidizing salts. The alloy is stabilized titanium to withstand pitting and intergranular attack after manufacture, particularly welding, which requires heating in the critical temperature range of sensitization (650 ° C – 760 ° C).
 
Alloy 825 provides excellent corrosion resistance by sulphuric and phosphoric acids and is also the most cost-effective alloy serving sulphuric acids. This alloy can be supplied by Austral Wright Metals as plate, sheet, string, bar, pin, wire, tube, pipe, fittings, fasteners.

For pressure vessel operating temperatures of up to 525 ° C (AS1210, AS4041), 538 ° C (ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code, Sections I, III, VIII, IX, Cases 1936, N-188) is authorized Incoloy 825. Corrosion resistance
The outstanding characteristic of Incoloy 825 is its resistance to corrosion. In color, 825 is resistant to general corrosion, pitting & crevice corrosion, intergranular corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking in reducing & oxidizing conditions. In sulphuric & phosphoric acids, sulfur-containing flue gases, sour gas and oil wells, and seawater, it is especially useful.
 
Fabrication
Incoloy 825 can operate easily hot or cold. Hot work should be in the 870-1180 ° C range, finishing at 870-980 ° C. Before use, hot-worked pieces should be cooled before use for optimum corrosion resistance. The alloy reacts more readily too cold than stainless steel.
 
Alloy 825 contains > 40 percent Ni which ensures corrosion cracking resistance against stress. Regulated adding titanium prevents intergranular corrosion, which could otherwise occur at high temperatures. Additions of molybdenum and copper allow it to withstand a reduction in environments such as sulphuric and phosphoric acids, hence its widespread usage in various end uses of the chemical process industry.
