Ireland 's National Parks are wonderful places to explore on foot and get closer to nature. There are hundreds of walking routes across Ireland that are classified into 5 levels: multi-access, easy, moderate, strenuous and very difficult. There are trails to suit everyone who visits the park, whatever their fitness level or ability.
Many of the parks' habitats are important at national and European level. The aim of the Parks is to protect and conserve these habitats for our fauna and flora, while allowing the public to benefit from and appreciate Ireland's natural heritage.
WICKLOW MOUNTAINS NATIONAL PARK
We find ourselves with the most visited park in, since it is only 50 km from Dublin . The park covers some 20,000 hectares of mountain scenery. If you like to walk, swim or ride a bike, you have to visit this park.
It is a very popular place especially in the Glendalough valley, the entrance to the park is free although the car parks are paid.
If you saw the movie Postscript: I Love You by Cecelia Ahern , many of the scenes were shot in this park. If you are in Dublin , do not hesitate to visit it there are daily excursions from the city.

It was the first national park in Ireland in 1932 , it is located to the south and west of the city of Killarney . Within the park we can find the McGillycuddy Reeks range which is the highest mountain range in Ireland I know rising to over 1000m high.
You have various excursions, although I would highlight the kayak tours through the lakes of Killarney , where you can see spectacular views of Ross Castle, a wonderful tour of the Killarney valley. From here, you can also take tours to climb the highest peak in Ireland with a trekking route through the Carrauntoohil mountain and you can encourage you to take a tour of the Ring of Kerry from Killarney and discover some of the most beautiful landscapes of Ireland visiting towns as surprising as Waterville , Cahersiveen or Sneem ..
THE WILD PARK OF NEPHIN
We are facing the sixth largest park in Ireland, it is located on the west coast in northwest Mayo. It is composed of around 15,000 hectares where there are Atlantic swamps and mountainous terrain that covers the Nephin Beg mountain range.
The park is open throughout the year, but the information point opens from March where they can guide you on the different routes that can be done.
THE BURREN NATIONAL PARK
The park is located in the southeastern Burren and is approximately 1,500 hectares in size. Within this park we can find: limestone pavement, calcareous grasslands, lakes, cliffs and swamps.
The meaning of the word "Burren" comes from the word "Boireann" which means a rocky place, a name very suitable for the large expanse of limestone pavement found in the place.
It is open all year round, although the information point is available from April to September.

Connemara Park is located in the west of Ireland, in County Galway. Connemara covers around 2,000 hectares of mountainous landscapes, beautiful pants and forests. One of the most famous ranges in Connemara is the Twelve Bens where we can find the Benbaun, Bencullagh, Benbrack and Muckanght.
There are numerous excursions, one of the most popular options leaves from Galway and is the Wild Atlantic Route and Connemara , if you like nature do not hesitate to take a walk around the area. Another interesting plan to see in Connemara if you have time is to visit its castles.
