Professional soccer K-League 1 Seoul appoints Kim Jin-gyu as head of power reinforcement department “Bridge role”

FC Seoul of the K-League 1 (1st division) professional soccer team announced on the 26th that it had appointed former acting manager Kim Jin-gyu, who took the baton as an acting manager last season, as the new head of the power reinforcement office.

Kim, the new head of the Force Enhancement Office, will be in charge of overall scouting for the Seoul team. In addition, he will play an overall role as a bridge regarding the composition of the team through close collaboration and communication with new coach Kim Ki-dong.

The club explained, “We plan to add expertise to team composition and scouting through the appointment of Kim Jin-gyu, head of the power strengthening department, who has been in Seoul for a long time and understands the club’s philosophy and spirit well.”

Director Kim, who made his professional debut in 2003, played for various age group national teams and as a starting defender at the 2006 Germany World Cup.

He has worn the Seoul uniform since the summer of 2007, and has played as a starting defender for eight seasons, excluding 2011 when he went abroad. He played in a total of 270 games (220 in the league, 35 in the Champions League, and 15 in the FA Cup) in Seoul and contributed to winning the K League twice and the FA Cup once.

Starting in 2018, he started coaching Osan High School, a youth team in Seoul, and continued his coaching career in Seoul until last year.
