Learn More About Tort Law Blogs

ABA Journal has named its Blawg 100 for 2009, and several tort law blogs have made the cut. In addition, the law firm LexisNexis has put together a list of the top 25 tort law blogs. These include the New York Injury Cases blog, Missouri's attorney general's blog, and Beyond the Underground.

Missouri attorney general's blog
Throughout the last week, the Missouri Attorney General's Blog has been focused on the SAFE Kit Initiative. The initiative seeks to clean up the backlog of sexual assault kits in Missouri. In addition, the State of Missouri has been serving major American banks with civil investigative demands.
The blog has also discussed the Missouri Attorney General's amicus brief in Doster v. Kendall. The amicus brief asserts that the Air Force violated the constitutional rights of its members. The brief also opposes the COVID-19 vaccine mandate that the Air Force has mandated for its members. The Attorney General's Office has also filed a motion for criminal contempt against dog breeder Marilyn Shepherd.
The Blog has also covered Missouri and Arkansas issues. Its focus is on the legal procedure in the state and federal courts. There is a lot of lively writing about legal issues. The Missouri Law Blog should not be used as a substitute for a competent legal advice.

ABA Journal's Blawg 100
ABA Journal's Blawg 100 is an annual list of the best legal blogs from around the Web. The editors of ABA Journal scour the Internet and choose the top legal blogs from each category. The ABA Journal then publishes its Blawg 100 in December. This year, the editors are asking for input on the list before its release.
ABA Journal's Blawg 100 includes a number of nominees that you might not have heard of. Some of the finalists are BabyBarista and the Art of War, the Supreme Court Haiku Reporter, the Girls Guide to Law School, and a blog about the art of negotiating. Others are obscure blogs like Suits by Suits, which focuses on disputes between executives and employers.
The ABA Journal's Blawg 100 also includes some wacky blogs. The South Florida Lawyers blog, for instance, rounds up new cases in Florida's Third District Court of Appeals.

LexisNexis Top 25 Tort Law Blogs
ABA Journal recently came out with a list of the top 25 legal blogs, but it's a bit on the short side. LexisNexis on the other hand, has put together a much more comprehensive list of top insurance and tort law blogs. Their list is chock full of quality content and information for practitioners.
One of the more notable entries is the Drug and Device Law Blog, which has been named one of the ABA's Top 25 legal blogs since its inception. The site covers all aspects of litigation involving FDA regulated prescription products, a topic that has become the focus of a massive litigation explosion. This article contains the most notable and noteworthy legal and technological developments in the area, including the first FDA-approved medical device, the iodine-based stent, the ocular implant, and a number of other devices.

Beyond the Underground
Among the blogs that are worth a read are those of Evan Schaeffer and Ron Ribaudo. They are a good bet for those interested in tort law, but also offer links to other interesting blogs. There are blogs focusing on a few major tort cases, and some aimed at lawyers. There is even a Tort Reform Glossary from the folks at Legal Underground.
There is also a blog on the Legal Underground called The Contracts Guy. This one is a bit more targeted towards attorneys. Its most recent post was about a new book. The blog also has a handy glossary of legal jargon.
