How to respec mastery in Last Epoch

In Last Epoch, respeccing your mastery class itself is not possible. Once you choose a mastery (such as Paladin, Void Knight, or Beastmaster) for your base class, that choice is permanent and cannot be changed later. Therefore, selecting your mastery wisely during character progression is crucial.

However, you can respec the passive points (often called mastery points) within your chosen mastery tree. These passives provide powerful bonuses specific to your mastery and base class and can be adjusted by visiting a special NPC in the game. This NPC is marked by a purple brain icon on the map and can be found in several regions, with the earliest location at the Keeper’s Camp near the fast-travel waypoint.

How to Respec Mastery Passives
- Visit the respec NPC in the End of Time era or other accessible zones.
- Open the Passives menu and click on any allocated passive point.
- You will see the gold cost required to refund that point (cost varies per passive).
- Spend gold to remove points and reallocate them as desired.
This system allows you to experiment with different passive builds without creating a new character, though it requires gold to respec.

Respeccing Skill Points and Specializations
Skill points and skill specializations are handled differently:
- Open the Skills & Specializations menu (default hotkey ‘S’).
- Click on any skill you have specialized.
- You can either remove points from the specialization tree or despecialize the skill entirely to choose a different one.
- Respeccing skills and specializations is free and can be done at any time, allowing flexible experimentation.

Important Tips
- You must visit the specific respec NPC in the End of Time to respec mastery passives. Other NPCs do not offer this option.
- Gold costs vary, so plan your respecs accordingly.
- Skill points are much easier to respec and cost nothing, encouraging experimentation.
- Since mastery class is permanent, research your preferred mastery before committing.
