Zelda Fan Rumors Were "Frustrating" according to Donkey Kong DevelopersWhen Eric Kozlowsky was hired by Retro Studios, it resulted in speculation in the news that they were working on the next Zelda game.
The artist had previously worked on the PlayStation's Uncharted series and, for an unknown reason, it inspired fans to form connections. But, Kozlowsky and Retro Studios were actually working on Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze which was released in late 2015. When the game was officially unveiled at the time, many Zelda fans criticized it for being a disappointment because they were hoping for something different. In a recent interview on an interview on the Kiwi Talkz podcast, Kozlowsky exposed the source of the rumor that caused frustration for the development team.
"Sometimes it's frustrating since it causes false expectations. That's what I saw when we first announced Tropical Freeze. People were looking at the news and thinking, 'they're making something like a Zelda game They're working on an Zelda game,' but nope. And then we announced Tropical Freeze and it looks incredible and stunning and then people think "oh, but it's another Donkey Kong.'
Then you see that people are going on about the Neogaf show or something and you're like , 'oh my it's because everybody was thinking we were doing an Zelda game. And then you realize we don't do that buy diablo 2 resurrected items. you do.' It's both funny at times. it, but sometimes it becomes annoying when it carries on for a little more than it should," said Kozlowsky.
