No longer is social media considered taboo when job hunting, because potential employers are already utilizing these same resources to learn more about you. So why not benefit from them? Here are some of the many social media outlets that will move your resume to the top of the pile.

Tumbler/Flickr/Instagram
Trade in the old days of carrying around that massive portfolio full of your best work. Instead, use modern technology to make your portfolio more accessible in a convenient and user friendly format. These media’s offer a variety of customized options to take advantage of when showcasing your work, a real ‘wow’ factor that won’t go unnoticed!

YouTube/Vimeo
Are you in a profession where you or your works are required to be in front of the camera? If so, upload your shorts or create a 30 second video about yourself and why you’re the right candidate for the job. All you have to do is add your YouTube or Vimeo channel to your resume and share, share, share! A great tool for any industry!

Twitter
Human Resource departments are utilizing Twitter now more than ever, because companies want to know more about you. Such as, what your interests and hobbies are, along with where you stand on hot topics. They also want to see how you react and handle tough situations and how you communicate your responses. In addition, you can learn more about the company that you are applying to, by what they are talking about and promoting. Impress your potential employers with how well you market yourself, along with how well versed you are in their company!

Now that you’ve got your tools rearing to go, here are a few things to remember when applying for any job.

LinkedIn.
Create a free LinkedIn profile with a professional picture of yourself or use resume edit sevice then post your online resume and connect with past and present colleagues, as well as, schoolmates and have your connections ‘endorse’ your skills. One of the many great features this social media network offers. A resume add on and terrific networking opportunity for everyone
WordPress/Blogger. If you’ve been published or you have a blog that you write for, add that to your resume and link it with the other social media platforms that you use. Employers like to see what a well-rounded and talented individual you are, in addition to your education and work experience.

Facebook.
Before you apply anywhere, stop and secure your Facebook account and put a more presentable profile picture of yourself up. Yes, Facebook is the first place potential employers will look as they skim through their stacks of resumes. Don’t let last Saturday night’s outing with friend’s surface on your Facebook account and hold you back from getting an interview and your perfect job.
Remember, if you use social media the right way, it just might help you land the job of your dreams, along with impressing potential employers with your originality and tech savvy ways.
