Can a company sue me for copying their app idea into my app?

Have id you signed a non-disclosure agreement and was the information or the idea disclosed to you in confidence?

Is the idea already put into execution i.e. is the app idea is already in working or is included in their app or patented?

If the company disclosed the idea and made you sign a non- disclosure agreement, they can sue you.

Secondly, if they already have created the app, then they automatically have copyright over the app and you might face litigation.

If the answer to both the above points is no, then they can't sue you because an idea, by itself, cannot be patented or copyrighted. What is patented is the invention and what is copyrighted is the 'expression' of that idea.

Apart from that, if the execution of your idea is too similar to the execution of the same idea by another company, they might file a case in the court of law. Anyways, if the company is able to prove the origin of idea with an executed or execution plan, you may be in trouble.

Instead of relying on the responses over internet, get in touch with an attorney to know the legal implications of your plan based on the facts involved.
