Raven Software, the main development studio behind Call of Duty: Warzone, has announced a delay in the release of the much-anticipated Covert Exfil feature. Initially slated to be part of the Season 1 Reloaded update on January 17, this new win condition for Warzone matches will now be withheld until further notice. The Covert Exfil was designed to offer players an alternative way to secure victory, allowing up to five teams to purchase the Covert Exfil and exit the match early, earning them a win in a dedicated leaderboard section.
Despite the recent unveiling of the Covert Exfil feature, Warzone's passionate fanbase expressed discontent, arguing that it contradicted the game's intense and cutthroat atmosphere. Responding to this feedback, Raven Software has decided to reevaluate and restructure its plans for the Covert Exfil feature. As a result, the Covert Exfil will not be included in the upcoming Season 1 Reloaded update. Instead, it will be introduced in a future mode that will focus on both the Covert Exfil and Weapon Case features.

The Weapon Case, another feature initially intended for Season 1 Reloaded, will also be delayed and incorporated into the same future mode as the Covert Exfil. In this mode, a Weapon Case will spawn at the start of each match, with its location highlighted on players' maps. While picking up the Weapon Case exposes the player to enemies, successfully exfiltrating with it will yield exclusive rewards for the player and their squad. Raven Software did not provide a specific release date for this future mode.
Despite the setback in Covert Exfil's launch, Warzone will still receive new content on January 17, including the Champion's Quest and a night vision public event for the Gulag. Modern Warfare 3's multiplayer is set to receive a ranked mode, new maps, playlists, and more. Additionally, a limited-time mode based on The Boys, alongside a corresponding event, will be introduced, along with a new Warlord for Modern Warfare 3's Zombies mode as part of Season 1 Reloaded.
