NFL Trade Deadline Why the Jaguars Shoul

Submitted by seestyle on Fri, 09/23/2022 - 16:21

The NFL trade deadline is always a strange time. For weeks at a time, Kody Clark Jersey we hear of potential pairings for teams and disgruntled stars, as well as key depth players. But each year, the deadline seems to come and go with a whimper. The cries for trades in the weeks ahead of the deadline are always louder than the actual applause following the trades that take place. This doesn't mean teams aren't actively working the phones, though. Even if few blockbuster trades happen, you can rest a sured knowing that teams are turning over every single stone in their efforts to improve, whether that means improving the roster for 2021 or improving their future via added draft capital. And it doesn't mean that names throughout the NFL will stop being suggested in hypothetical deals. But there are some names that, well, shouldn't be suggested. Teams should make phone calls on these players in the hopes of swindling another team for a top player, but that doesn't mean the team on the other end of the phone should pick up.And for the Jaguars, that name this year is James Robinson. With teams like the San Francisco 49ers and Baltimore Ravens struggling to run the ball as they fight for playoff spots, Robinson's name has been floated here and there in the national media as a name for running back-hungry teams to target ahead of the deadline. And while this makes sense from the perspective of making an offer for Robinson considering he is a top running back talent on a cheap deal, it Nicklas Backstrom Jersey doesn't make much sense to actually discu s any trade packages for Robinson. The simple truth is that Robinson should be considered untouchable in any and all deals by the Jaguars. While many will look at the franchise and scoff at a 1-5 team holding onto a running back for dear life, Robinson has earned that right. Aside from Trevor Lawrence, Robinson is the player on the roster the Jaguars should make most untouchable. The Jaguars have been one of the most trade-happy teams in recent years, and this includes some instances at the deadline. The Jaguars made one of the biggest trades in recent memory in October 2019 when they traded Jalen Ramsey to the Los Angeles Rams, while the 2017 season saw them add starting nose tackle Marcell Dareus to complete their defensive image.Throw in Urban Meyer's willingne s to trade away Dave Caldwell-era players for peanuts (Joe Schobert, Gardner Minshew, Sidney Jones, Josh Oliver, CJ Henderson) and it is understandable why many would presume Robinson could be yet another talented Jaguars player who wasn't handpicked by Urban Meyer to end up traded away for little in return. Then there is how the Jaguars approached Robinson's status in the 2021 offseason. After the Jaguars already had a strong rookie showing from Robinson in 2020 -- a year in which he showed he was a starting-level running back -- the Jaguars and Meyer didn't exactly go all-in on Robinson as Madison Bowey Jersey their lead back, drafting Clemson running back Travis Etienne at No. 25 overall.Scroll to ContinueBut the context of how the Jaguars viewed Robinson last March now seems moot with the team six games into 2021. Instead, it seems more prudent to look at how important of a role Robinson now plays for the Jaguars after Meyer and his staff have actually coached the second-year back.Yeah, hes really hitting his stride," Jaguars offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell summarized this week."Theres almostnothing that he cant do for us, and hes run the ball well. I think he caught three pa ses in the pa singgame. So, hes doing a great job. Hes giving us everything hes got.For starters, it is hard to factor Etienne into any trade scenarios that involve Robinson because he isn't a tangible piece of the team as things presently stand. Etienne suffered a Brett Connolly Jersey Linsfranc injury in the Jaguars' second preseason game, sidelining him for the entirety of 2021.Whether the Jaguars believe Etienne will be back at 100% and overthrow Robinson on the depth chart is unknown. But for now, the Jaguars can see Etienne as only a hypothetical past 2021. The Jaguars were high enough on a healthy Etienne to draft him No. 25, but are they high enough on him following his injury to make them comfortable with trading Robinson? Then there is Robinson's 2021 performance. Robinson has been one of the NFL's best running backs despite not seeing 20 carries in a single game this season. He is second in the NFL in yards after contact per attempt and fourth among running backs in mi sed tackles forced, per PFF. He ranks in the top-10 of nearly every single rushing stat despite his 84 carries lagging behind most of the NFL's other workhorse backs.Robinson has rushed for 460 yards and five touchdowns through six weeks, just two fewer touchdowns than he recorded in all of 2021. His yards per carry average has bumped from 4.5 to 5.5 as he is averaging nearly a full additional yard on a per touch basis. In short, Robinson has had elite production in 2021.The Jaguars don't seem like they would be willing to trade away their most productive player, even with their season more or le s over at 1- Mike Gartner Jersey 5. That would be waving a white flag on the season, a move Meyer doesn't have the breathing room to make.Trading Robinson would also impact No. 1 overall pick Trevor Lawrence, who benefits from Robinson's impact on a down-to-down basis. Robinson has been the Jaguars' workhorse in terms of snaps (79%) and touches (101), and Lawrence's best games have come at the same time as Robinson's. Robinson is making everything easier for Lawrence, so it seems unlikely the Jaguars would want to disrupt that. There is nothing that suggests the Jaguars would actually shop Robinson at the deadline. And based off everything we know, there is nothing that suggests they shop him.In short, Robinson is too talented for the Jaguars to consider trading, even if their season is lost and even if they didn't seem all-in on Robinson this offseason. Trading Robinson would mean both surrendering the rest of 2021 and jeopardizing Trevor Lawrence's support cast. Even for the Jaguars, this seems like a move that wouldn't make any sense.

3 Up 3 Down Seahawks Special Teams Shine

Submitted by seestyle on Fri, 09/23/2022 - 16:19

As far as weird Seahawks games goand there have been manythis one was certainly up there. Six combined turnovers, 16 penalties, 692 combined yards and one fake punt later, the Seahawks snapped their three-game losing streak with a wild and dramatic 30-23 win over the 49ers.With the victory, Seattle secured a season sweep of San Francisco and, despite being 4-8, are back within two games of the NFC's final wild-card spot with five to play. It was, by far, the team's most entertaining game of the season, featuring all the ups and downs of Sam Koch Jersey a signature Seahawks win; and for that reason, this may have been the most normal their season has felt all year long.Let's go over the three biggest winners and losers from this rollercoaster ride of a football game.3 UpQB Ru sell WilsonHe wasn't perfect by any means, but this was the best Wilson has looked since his return from finger surgery in Week 10. His best throw of the day proved to be the game-winner for Seattle, dropping a beautiful floater over the shoulder of Tyler Lockett and into the receiver's bread basket for a 12-yard score in the back right corner of the end zone. In all, he completed 30 of his 37 pa s attempts for 231 yards, two touchdowns and an interception that wasn Miles Boykin Jersey 't his fault (we'll get to that later). This was a very encouraging performance from Wilson, who improves to 17-4 against the 49ers in his career.DE Carlos DunlapThough he wasn't nece sarily the star of Seattle's solid defensive performance, Dunlap delivered two of the team's biggest plays on Sunday night. Firstly, after bullying 49ers right tackle Tom Compton at the snap, Dunlap brought down quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo for a safety to tie things up at 23 apiece. Then, with the game on the line, the veteran defensive end batted a Garoppolo pa s into the air for an incompletion to force a turnover on downs and seal the victory. He's been a ghost for most of the year, but perhaps this was the start of a rebound for Dunlap. If the Seahawks are going to pull off an improbable run to the postseason, they'll certainly need him.Scroll to ContinueSpecial TeamsPerhaps the Seahawks' most unheralded strength in 2021, special teams made a huge difference in this game. After the offense went three-and-out on the game's opening drive, Pete Carroll greenlit a fake punt run designed for Travis Homer, who took it the distance for a 73-yard touchdown Ronnie Stanley Jersey to put Seattle up 7-0 early on. Homer was also on the recovering end of a fumble forced by Nick Belloreanother star in this gameto kickstart the second half. And of Michael Dickson's four punts, two pinned the 49ers within their own 10-yard line. It was a great day all around for Larry Izzo's crew.3 DownTE Gerald EverettIt's hard to have a more unfortunate day than the one Everett had on Sunday. He played a huge role in all three of Seattle's turnovers, starting with a fumble that immediately led to a San Francisco touchdown in the first quarter. But where he really hurt the team was deep in the red zone. On what should have been an easy six points for the Seahawks, a wide-open Everett let a pa s from Wilson bounce off his chest, then his foot and into the arms of 49ers cornerback K'Waun Williams. Then, with a chance to put the game away, the fifth-year tight end fumbled a shovel pa s at the goal lineeliminating any opportunity for a field goal that would have extended Seattle's lead to 10 points with roughly four minutes to go. Fortunately for him, Garoppolo and company Marquise Brown Jersey were thwarted in their attempt to tie things up in the final seconds. But in the end, Everett's hiccups still resulted in a 14-point swing in the wrong direction for the Seahawks.G Kyle FullerMaking his second start at left guard in place of the injured Damien Lewis (elbow/shoulder), Fuller was a disaster. He completely whiffed on a block in the first quarter that led to a five-yard lo s on Adrian Peterson's first rushing attempt in a Seahawks uniform, then continued to struggle as the game went along. Eventually, Jake Curhan relieved Fuller of his duties when the latter exited with an ankle injury, and Seattle began to have better succe s in pa s protection and generated some push in the run game as well. It's unlikely that was a coincidence, because Fuller has simply shown nothing to indicate he's an NFL-caliber offensive lineman. For the sake of Wilson's protection and the viability of the Seahawks' rushing attack, this should be Fuller's last appearance of the year, barring something Marlon Humphrey Jersey catastrophic.NBC and the NFLConsidering what the Seahawks had done up to this point, the NFL's decision to flex this game out of its initial slot was understandable. But in retrospect, this wacky intra-divisional affair could have been all the more entertaining under the primetime lights. Instead, one of the year's craziest games will go unnoticed by many who didn't have a rooting interest in either side.

Browns Sign Willie Harvey Jr. Make Other

Cleveland Browns have brought in some extra defensive help due to losing players to Rodger Saffold Jersey the COVID-19 list. Browns have signed linebacker Willie Harvey Jr. to the team. Harvey Jr. last made an appearance in 2019 with the Browns and he played in two games. Currently on the COVID-19 list for Cleveland is Jacob Phillips, Tony Fields III and Mack Wilson. The Browns obviously needed some Taywan Taylor Jersey linebacker depth added for the time being. and should be good to go against the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday. Jadeveon Clowney and Takk McKinley will neither play against the Raiders as both players are on the COVID-19 list. Cleveland has brought up defensive end Porter Gustin, a familiar face that has played Taylor Lewan Jersey plenty of football in Cleveland over the last couple of years. Scroll to ContinueWith plenty of elevations from the practice squad the Browns have some room there. Cleveland opted to sign Bryan Mills to the practice squad. Mills is a 6-foot-1 rookie that spent time with Cleveland back in September. Mills was originally signed as an Logan Ryan Jersey un-drafted free agent by the Seattle Seahawks. Expect the Browns to make a few more roster moves between today and Monday evenings game against Las Vegas. Theres a chance for players to come off the COVID-19 list, Kenny Vaccaro Jersey but dont be surprised if another positive test comes about.

Chargers Defense Must Use Bengals Perfor

Submitted by seestyle on Fri, 09/23/2022 - 16:19

Brandon Staleys defense started the season playing at a high level. They held opponents to low-scoring outcomes and allowed a vast number of rushing yards, but games never got away from them.It wasnt until they faced the Baltimore Ravens in week six that the rushing attack from three veteran D.K. Metcalf Jersey running backs got out of hand, and they had 34 points scored on them. Their following three lo ses would feature penalties, no way to stop the run, and no turnovers created.Staley, defensive coordinator Renaldo Hill, and the players kept saying it was coming. Their team leader Derwin James said that it might start happening regularly once they got one. There have been glimpses of stopping the run, like when they mi sed three defensive linemen in Linval Joseph, Jerry Tillery, and Christian Covington against the Steelers. Their reinforcements stepped up and showed out by holding running back Najee Harris to 55 rushing yards.Like I mentioned before, if you are stopping the run on early downs, it is going to allow those rushers to expre s themselves -- the sack-fumbles, all of those things will happen if we do those things on the early downs, Hill said.Last Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals could be a turning point for the defense. For starters, the Chargers defense had six sacks, two interceptions, two fumble recoveries, and one returned for a crucial touchdown.I think it featured some of our premium guys in getting them doing those jobs, which is always a goal of ours, Staley explained. But, I think that when you have that element when youve shown that element, now theres that preparation for it, which is a good thing for you. Then, now youre trying to play that che s match moving forward. I like the way that we executed because I felt like, yesterday, we played with a type of variety. Staley was right, their featured guys stepped up. Edge rusher Uchenna Nwosu was a perfect piece for this Staley defensive puzzle. Since the bye week, the former USC product has come in determined to prove himself. He will be a free agent Ugo Amadi Jersey after this season, but lately, he has shown why he may be a fit in this system. Against the Bengals high-powered offense, Nwosu had a strip-sack of quarterback Joe Burrow on the opening drive that got the ball back on Cincys 35-yard line. Later in the 4th quarter, he was sacked a second time by Nwosu, who suddenly has three sacks in the last three games.Cornerback Michael Davis was given a three-year deal in the offseason with the belief that he will continue his growth under Staley, Hill, and secondaries coach Derrick Ansley. On the Bengals second po se sion, receiver JaMarr Chase had beaten Davis but ended up playing hot potato with the ball, which fell into the hands of the Chargers cornerback. Second turnover on the second offensive drive by the Bengals.I think that what we were able to do yesterday is play a lot of different types of coverage systems behind that pre sure, whether its zone pre sure, man-to-man, simulated pre sure. I think that thats the other key element to pre suring, the covered system behind it, Staley said. The Chargers 24-point lead had dwindled to a two-point lead in the fourth quarter. The defense had to hold it down yet again. The Bengals got the ball down to the 34-yard line of the visiting team when running back Joe Mixon took K.J. Wright Jersey a handoff, then Covington yanked the ball out of his hand when cornerback Tevaughn Campbell took it back for a 61-yard touchdown. That is when they put the game away.Scroll to ContinueThey start coming in bunches, Hill said. That was just a good example of that. Its a tribute to how those guys prepare in practice each week. One of the reasons why the Chargers defense was able to cause so much havoc was because of the play from the front seven. Mixon is one of the most dangerous running backs in the NFL, and the front seven was able to hold him down to 54 yards on 19 carries. What we did yesterday was we rushed the quarterback at a high level because of how we were playing on first and second down against the run, Staley explained. We were able to affect the quarterback, and then that led to the takeaways. Then when you score on defense because of a very well-executed play and you finished with a touchdown, and then you have a red-area takeaway on a very well-executed covered system, as a coach, that means that you know that your players are improving. It was the kind of complete performance that Staley had wanted from his defense. It cant be a one-off, though. I feel like were in a good spot to take that next L.J. Collier Jersey step, James said. The team that we have, I feel like were right in the right spot. Were going through it as a team.It is now the month of December, and the Chargers have already started the most important month in the season with a big defensive victory. This could be a sign that the defense could be improving at the right time, especially with what they face soon.Next Thursday night, they will face off against division rival Kansas City Chiefs, but before that, they face the New York Giants this Sunday. Their record might be 4-8, but they have some firepower on offense. All you have to do is watch Giants RB Saquon Barkleys NFL highlight film, his college highlight reel, Staley said. Go watch Giants WR Kenny Golladay. Go watch Giants WR Darius Slayton, who I played against last year, Giants TE Evan Engram. Go watch Giants QB Daniel Jones run the football for 90 yards against Philly last year. All you have to do is watch the film and the respect that you have to have. The Chargers defense, regardle s of the opposing quarterback, need to go into Sunday ready to make an example of the Giants. They need to pre sure the quarterback, create sacks, and get turnovers. This is the crucial part of the NFL season, and if this team wants to compete against the best, they will need their defense to step it up as they did in Cincinnati. Their first test will be against New York.We definitely want to win consistently, James explained. We definitely talked about it. We feel like we have everything we need to make that happen. We just need to Quinton Jefferson Jersey focus on one week at a time, focus on the Giants this week, and it will take care of itself.Nuts N Bolts Injury report. OUT: OLB Kyler Fackrell (knee), CB Asante Samuel Jr. (concu sion), S Alohi Gilman (quad). Questionable: DT Justin Jones (ankle).

Ingold told NFL Films. "I didn't know if I was too big of a liability for my birth parents. It Happened One Night Remembering the Sn

Submitted by seestyle on Fri, 09/23/2022 - 16:17

For most of us, wintry weather often comes too soon. Winters in New England often do. While some bask in the picturesque quality of a snow-covered bridge, others lament the sound of shovels and machinery removing that snow from their roads and driveways. Living with winter precipitation is a love-hate relationship that native New Englanders know all too well. However, for one night in January 2002, the snow was every New Englanders friend. The falling of the flakes in Foxboro, Ma sachusetts provided more than just arctic weather conditions for an impending playoff game between the New England Patriots and the Oakland Raiders. It would come to symbolize the genesis of one of the most succe sful eras in profe sional Corey Seager Jersey sports. On January 19, 2002, an NFL dynasty was born, along with a two-decade love affair between the Brady-Belichick era New England Patriots and their fans. The Beginning of a Beautiful FriendshipFor this particular sportswriter, the story began a bit earlier. During the summer of 1996, a visit to Patriots training camp led to a chance encounter. It would be an experience which would come full circle during one of the most memorable nights in Patriots franchise history. It would also spark my desire to make a living through telling the stories of profe sional sports. At that time, Patriots training camp was held on the campus of Bryant College (now, Bryant University) in Smithfield, Rhode Island a mere fifteen-minute drive from my house. As we did each summer, my grandfather and I would visit Bryants nearby campus, hoping to catch a glimpse of some of the regions star players such as quarterback Drew Bledsoe, running back Curtis Martin, tight end Ben Coates, among others. As a young high-schooler at A. J. Pollock Jersey the time, the task of seeking autographs seemed a bit past my age. However, my grandfather was adamant about keeping tradition intact. Despite some previous (and futile) attempts, he remained steadfast in extending our junior-sized football, in hopes of obtaining the signature of a player on his route to practice. With nearly the entire roster having found its way to the practice field, it appeared that my grandfathers signature streak had come to a close. However, making his way along the outer end of the Bryant campus, came a seemingly youthful player, mostly unrecognizable to the crowd in attendance. Carrying his helmet, the player approached with a slight jog, indicating a greater sense of urgency than that of his teammates to reach the field. Despite a clear need to beat the clock, my grandfather once again extended his arm, holding a football and seeing a signature for his somewhat embarra sed 15 year-old grandson.Oh man, I cantI have to be on time, Coach Bill Parcells is gonna kick my butt if Im late. the player replied as he slowed his jog to a pace.Cmon, Paisanone minutefor my grandson, my grandfather once again asked. Okle s than a minute, let me have that pen, the Patriot hopeful said as he granted the request. He scribbled a signature on the blank side of the ball before hastily handing it back to my grandfather and taking off in a slow sprint to the practice field. As my grandfather handed the ball to me, I attempted to make out the signature; unfortunately to no avail. To be honest, the name looked le s familiar to me than the players face. Knowing we were struggling to Andre Ethier Jersey determine his identity, a member of the security staff came over holding a roster card. Able to make out a capital A and V from his signature, the security guard pointed to the corresponding name on his roster sheet. Its this guy, he said. Hes a rookie kicker out of South Dakota Statesupposed to be pretty good, he remarked with a shrug before returning to his detail. My grandfather then looked back at me saying: Keep this one as he handed the ball back to me I got a good feeling about him.The players name, as you probably gue sed, was Adam Vinatieri. The Quarterbacks Arm Was Moving ForwardDespite having enjoyed a solid career to that point, Vinatieris legend was about to blanket the New England landscape as the falling snow on January 19, 2002. The then 29-year-old had put New England's first points of the night on the Foxboro Stadium scoreboard, a 23-yard field goal with 8:39 remaining in the fourth quarter, cutting the Raiders lead to 7-3. After a pair of Sebastian Janikowski field goals gave Oakland a 13-3 lead, Patriots quarterback Tom Brady led the Patriots on a 10-play, 67-yard drive in the fourth quarter. Brady completed nine consecutive pa ses for 61 yards; finishing it with a 6-yard touchdown run with 7:57 left that made the score 1310.With le s than two minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, Brady was hit during his pa s attempt on his right side by Raiders cornerback Charles Woodson. The ball came loose and was recovered by the Raiders. Though it appeared that Brady had tucked the ball back towards his body, the officials were unable to definitively rule whether or not his arm was moving forward at the time. They ruled it a fumble in an attempt to review the play. The Patriots 2001 season was hanging in the balance. Scroll to ContinueWith the exception of the fortunate few holding a ticket in the final Patriots game at Foxboro Stadium that night, I remained glued to my television, alongside my father and grandfather. Three generations Logan Forsythe Jersey of Patriots fans who, to date, had known nothing but disappointment. Between the three of us, there was little knowledge of a scarcely-known rule that was about to change the fate of the franchise forever. Like most fans watching that night, we had a sumed that the Patriots season had just come to an end. Suddenly, New Life!Amidst the triumphant reactions of near-euphoric disbelief in the DAbate household that night, the officials would offer an explanation of what was to be forever known as the Tuck Rule. Brady did not fumble the ball. Because his arm was moving forward, the play was ruled an incomplete pa s. Russell Martin Jersey As such, the Pats would retain po se sion of the ball, with a chance to tie the game. Despite the frustrating decree of legions of silver-and-black wearing fans, the officials made the correct call, based on the written rule at the time, enacted in 1999: When an offensive player is holding the ball to pa s it forward, any intentional forward movement of his arm starts a forward pa s, even if the player loses po se sion of the ball as he is attempting to tuck it back toward his body. Also, if the player has tucked the ball into his body and then loses po se sion, it is a fumble. With a new lease on their playoff lives, the Pats would not be denied in their quest to even the score. Brady completed a 13-yard pa s to David Patten, advancing to the Raiders' 29-yard-line. After two pa s incompletions and a Brady scramble, Vinatieri was about to seize the moment, which would make him a folk hero. He hit a ga
