The reason why brother HL-2140 ERROR lights flashing
1. Paper is jammed on gear and needs to be checked by opening the back cover of the printer.
2. Low toner, need to add toner or replace the new toner cartridge. Brother HL-4150CDN printer use the TN310 toner cartridge.
3. The printer needs servicing due to a fault on its electronics. This is due to a power surge or spikes cause by an abnormality in the power distribution system or the power transmission/distribution lines might have been struck by a lightning during a storm and its breakers have failed to cut the power. As a precautionary measure, always plug electronic devices on surge protectors. Send printer to the nearest Brother Service Centers.
