What is the Sub-Savings Accounts Method for Budgeting?

This is a unique one because it is possible to use it as its own budgeting technique, or you can choose to combine it with some of the other budgeting methods as well. To make this one work, you will need to either open several different savings accounts or work with your bank and hook up several sub-accounts that are able to attach to your main savings account. It will depend on what you like the most and what your bank will allow.
 
No matter the option you choose to go with, pick one of the options that doesn’t come with an additional monthly fee. You may need to change banks to do this. You do not want to reward all of those good financial habits with a bunch of fees that the bank gets for doing nothing. After you make some of these accounts, you will need to name them with the money that you plan to save in there. Whether that is for an emergency fund, a trip somewhere, or a new computer, you can decide what to call them.

Then you can divide up the amount of money you need in total by how many months are left until the due date, whether that is one year or a few or even for just a few months. This tells you how much you need to save each month in order to meet some of your goals.
 
From here, you need to set up your accounts so that the correct amount will get deposited into them when you are paid. You should do this automatically, without having to do it yourself. This makes it an instant savings that you do not have to do on your own. You can then use the rest of your paycheck to help pay for some of the rest of the bills you have.
