A Storage Engineer’s job entails being part of a team that designs, configures, develops, integrates, tests, implements, documents, and supports the storage infrastructure ecosystem. The candidate works with different teams to explain requirements and suggest the right storage and backup solutions and procedures.
Engineers also create and maintain documentation of the existing technology and solutions. They take part in capacity planning and tweaking performance for storage and backup environments
They handle replication of DR data to make sure that data is recovered, in case of any glitches. Engineers configure and administer performance and massive storage arrays while deploying and configuring SANs. They upgrade, implement, monitor policies, and procedures to ensure that storage can always be provisioned for data protection and that all this adheres to relevant compliance standards.
These engineers resolve storage issues using NFS, Fiber Channel over Ethernet (FCoE), and CIFS protocols. They also administer backup architecture using several solutions.
