Soil is the root of flower growth. Soil can store rich nutrients and microorganisms for a long time, and it can continuously supply the growth and development of flowers and trees, and it also plays the role of fixing the plants. There are many types of soil, and its structure, texture, fertility, pH and other factors directly affect the growth of flowers. Therefore, if you choose to use a soil meter to test the soil, it will be more beneficial to the survival of flowers.
The texture of soil is generally divided into sandy soil, clay and loam.
1. Sandy soil: Sandy soil has large particles, strong permeability, good drainage, but poor water retention, rapid increase or decrease in soil temperature, large temperature difference between day and night, and low nutrient content. It is generally used as the preparation of culture soil or cuttings and seedlings for cultivation.
2. Clay: small particle gap, tight soil, poor permeability, poor drainage performance, but strong water retention performance. Contains more minerals and organic materials, strong fertility. Soil day and night temperature difference is small, early spring soil warming slow, for seedlings and most flowers growth is not conducive. Generally not used alone.
3.Loamy soil: moderate particle size, good permeability, organic matter content, water and fertilizer retention, soil temperature is more stable day and night. Suitable for most flowers.
Soil organic matter is the main source of soil nutrients, in the role of soil microorganisms, decomposition and release of a variety of large elements and trace elements needed for plant growth, so the organic matter content of the soil, not only full fertility and physical properties, conducive to the growth of flowers and trees.
Soil aeration, temperature, water content and size also directly affect the root respiration, nutrient absorption and microbial transformation. Soil
The pH of the soil determines the microbial activity and physical and chemical properties of the soil. Different flower species have different requirements for soil pH. Most flowers and trees are suitable for neutral soil, while orchids, rhododendron, bromeliads and other flowers and trees require a slightly acidic soil with pH below 6. Tamarisk, oleander, marigold, hosta, etc. are suitable for growth in alkaline soil with pH above 7. Most greenhouse flowers are adapted to acidic or slightly acidic soil. pH also affects the color of flowers, for example, the color of flowers is blue when the pH is low and pink when the pH is high.
