NBA reporter Jeff Goodman NBA MT Coins reported that the University of Connecticut has already fired head coach Kevin Ollie.
In the NCAA games that ended two days ago, UConn lost to the South Methodist University at 73-80, and their season ended. This season, their record is 14 wins and 18 losses, winning less than 50% for two consecutive seasons. Two days later, the University of Connecticut announced that Orly's contract was terminated with "justified reasons."
In a statement, the athletic director of the University of Connecticut, David Benedict, stated: "Unfortunately, this decision is necessary. In all projects, we see men's basketball as the highest level. We will immediately recruit the next coach nationwide."
In January of this year, the University of Connecticut confirmed that they are accepting an NCAA investigation, but did not disclose details. An unidentified source revealed that the investigation was related to university recruitment.
Ollie led the team to win the NCAA championship in 2014. Prior to this, some NBA teams wanted to recruit Orly as the team manager but were rejected by Orly.
