Understanding the Various ASTM Bolt Grades

What exactly are ASTM Bolts?
In numerous industrial uses, Fasteners are crucial components in many industrial applications. They ensure that various parts are connected securely and that they work properly. The American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) has set standards in order to ensure the calibre of fasteners and their appropriateness for a variety of uses. Fasteners can be categorised using ASTM grades according to their strength, longevity, and other characteristics.

What is ASTM Bolt?
The Standard Specification for Structural Bolts, Steel, Heat Treated, 120/105 ksi Minimum Tensile Strength is the ASTM International standard for heavy hex structural bolts. It specifies mechanical characteristics for bolts with a diameter ranging from 12 to 1+12 inches (13 to 38 mm).

The ASTM A325M, Standard Specification for Structural Bolts, Steel, Heat Treated 830 MPa Minimum Tensile Strength, is the comparable metric standard. For sizes M12 to 36, it defines mechanical characteristics.
