What Difference Does It Make To Have CCT LED Lighting On Your Bathroom Mirror?

Many of us have been accustomed down the years, whenever we have been in the market for a new bathroom mirror, to prioritise such aspects as the mirror’s shape, size, style, and the materials used in its construction.
However, you may be relatively new to the concept of investing in a bathroom mirror with LED lighting incorporated into it. That’s despite the many aesthetic and practical benefits an LED illuminated bathroom mirror can bring, such as a sleek and modern appearance, high-quality illumination, and energy efficiency.
In today’s blog post, however, we are throwing particular “light” (sorry) on the advantages that acquiring a bathroom mirror with CCT LED strip illumination could offer to your household.
An introduction to CCT LED lighting on bathroom mirrors
In case you’re feeling a little overwhelmed by all the unexplained initialisms, let’s start from the beginning. “LED” stands for “light-emitting diode”, a form of lighting that can produce illumination as much as 90% more efficiently than traditional incandescent light bulbs.
LED lighting, of course, is now highly mainstream – approximately half of all residential lighting sales around the globe now draw upon LED technology.
You might be slightly more confused, then, by the initialism “CCT”. This concept is worth knowing more about, given that here at Illuminated Mirrors, every bathroom mirror with LED lighting you might have seen on our website now uses CCT LED strip.
CCT stands for “correlated colour temperature”, although you might have also seen reference to “colour changing technology”. In summary, it is a measurement of the colour appearance of a light source, expressed in Kelvin (K).
The CCT measurement for a specific lighting source indicates whether the light looks “warm” (yellowish, as signalled by a lower Kelvin value) or “cool” (blueish, as signalled by a higher Kelvin value).
In the case of our own backlit mirrors at Illuminated Mirrors, our warm lights are 3,000°K, whereas our cool lights have a CCT measurement of 5,000°K.
So, what is the practical impact of a CCT LED bathroom mirror in the home?
If you have ever walked into a space where the light was particularly “warm”, and then another environment characterised by relatively “cool” light, you’ll know how much difference it can make. By this, we are referring to the distinctions in “mood” that such varying forms of illumination give off, as well as the practical effects.
For example, when you are stood in front of your illuminated bathroom mirror at home, and you are trying to take a selfie, you are sure to appreciate having access to warmer light, which helps give a more flattering look. But if you then decide you would like to apply some makeup, it is cooler light that will be more “practical” for this purpose, as it gives truer colour in the reflection.
There was a time when, at the stage of a customer purchasing a backlit mirror from us, we needed to ask them to select either warm or cool lighting. But those days are over! Now, thanks to CCT LED technology, our customers can access warm and cool lighting on a single strip.
CCT LED strip lights are sometimes referred to as “dual white” LED strip lights. Investing in a bathroom mirror with LED CCT strip lighting can make a profound difference to the pleasure and functional benefit every member of your household gets out of this important item.
