Volunteer programs in India - Teaching English
The Teaching English project is designed to help Indian students develop their English language skills. Volunteers are encouraged to work in tandem with local teachers and help to share their knowledge in this aspect.
Working alongside local teachers, volunteers on this project teach for approximately 3 hours a day. Volunteers do not necessarily need to be experienced or qualified teachers to participate in this program.
They just need to be fluent in English. However, having some relevant training is a plus.
Childcare Volunteer Programs in India
Due to the high incidences of poverty and illness in the region, most childcare centers and orphanages are often filled to capacity. There is always high demand of volunteer assistance in these centers as they are often under-resourced and overcrowded.
Volunteers are usually assigned to a number of different childcare placements.
At an orphanage, volunteers provide assistance in different aspects such as teaching English, caring for babies and children, helping with feeding, cooking and cleaning, and assisting with other daily chores.
Accommodation

It is important to know that as a volunteer, you may expect to share a room with another volunteer, depending on the number of volunteers available for the session.
However, there are certain homestays where volunteers have rooms to themselves and are not expected to share rooms with anyone.
While beddings are always being provided, volunteers are advised to come along with their personal sleeping bags especially during the winter months or for any weekend trips away.
As part of efforts to enhance the standard of living in the area, constant electricity and running water are always available in all homestays.
