Simms spoke with Sporting activities Illustrated's Richard Deitsch in regards to the move Wednesday.

"[CBS Sports Chairman] Sean [McManus] got talked to me over the years about maybe going into your studio. I now get that you follow the league like I want to. That was probably one of the most frustrating thing about the job. You do one or two games weekly, you can't really be aware of the other teams like I needed to do. When you do video games, you are all-in about those games. On Inside The AMERICAN FOOTBAL, I get to say things about stuff that I never get to say in a transmit. "
