Andy Reid on Patrick Mahomes: 'He likes to work'

While the Chiefs seem intent on waiting at least a year to debut 2017 first-round choose Patrick Mahomes in live, regular-season action, the Kansas City Star dropped an appealing nugget about the rookie's romantic relationship with head coach Andy Reid throughout their minicamp over the saturday and sunday( more about Madden 17 Mobile Coins).

"Andy Reid has also been coaching long enough to understand that everybody would ask about his new quarterback towards the end of the Chiefs' three-day fresh minicamp on Monday, " wrote stellar Chiefs overcom reporter Terez Paylor on Monday. "So Reid, who kept a careful eye on Patrick Mahomes II most weekend long -- even turning away from the backups at occasions to advise or response questions from his first-round rookie -- didn't even loose time waiting for a question during their annual post-minicamp presser before diving into the main topic of Mahomes. "

The unprompted quote from Reid was the following:

"I know the question is going to be about the quarterback. We saw him can be found in and improve every day which he was here with his / her verbiage and his hard work.

"Does he have a ways to go? Absolutely. But the nice point about him is that people found out that he wants to work and that's the actual big thing. "

I believe Reid, Alex Smith and normal manager John Dorsey if they talk about this even now being Smith's team -- he has among the best records in football over the previous four years and his limitations within the field often seem significantly exaggerated. However, the excitement around Mahomes is undeniable and only Smith can control how long it's going to be before that excitement spreads on the Chiefs' fan base.

It also has to become exciting for Reid individually. This is the highest-ceilinged first year quarterback he's gotten the opportunity to work with since Donovan McNabb. For a coach that was immersed in and fascinated with the position for most of his career, it's difficult not to take into consideration the Mahomes project an individual one.

Smith's dogged preparation lets Reid to take more of those coaching asides over your coming months, weeks and years. But how quickly until eventually Mahomes catches on and starts commanding more representatives?
