How to be the best aunt or uncle to your kids?

Nieces and nephews can be incredibly demanding, so it's important to know what makes the best uncle/aunt you can be. From providing emotional support when they are feeling down to offering them guidance when they need it most, being their best uncle/aunt means caring for them in every way possible is a crucial skill for all adults.

  1. Talk to them

As an uncle/aunt, you probably spend a lot of time talking to your nephew or niece. But, as necessary as this is, it's even more crucial that you listen when they want to speak to you. Being willing to hear your nephew or niece out is the best sign of respect and trust. This is especially true if they're feeling down, as they might have something they want to let out but don't know how to do so. Learning to listen is the best way to show kids that you care.

  1. Play games and arrange activities

As an uncle/aunt, you probably play many fun games and activities with your nephew or niece. However, even more so than playing new games with kids, spending time with your nephew or niece is crucial. This means being willing to do things other than just playing games together, such as going to the park, watching TV, going out for meals, or any other activity.
While these activities can be fun, they are significant if your kid is still young. This is because, during this time, your nephew or niece is learning about life and developing skills that will last a lifetime.

  1. Give them old toys

Handing down your childhood toys to your niece or nephew can do wonders. This might seem like a simple gesture, but it can make a difference. It shows your niece/ nephew that you have something you want to give them, something that you want to give them, which is an essential sign of respect and love. You can even buy them new toys that are of their interest.
There are many discounted toys online if you do not wish to break your account. As an aunt or an uncle, it is also your responsibility to make your little one feel confident. This can be done by giving constructive feedback, praising them when they earn it, and offering advice when they ask. Constructive feedback, in particular, can help a person develop self-confidence. This, in turn, allows them to be more open to new experiences and be willing to try new things.
