Astrology is an ancient science which is used to make predictions about events in our lives. There are different types of astrology, like Vedic and Western Astrology. Yet another system is KP Astrology, invented by Prof. K. S. Krishnamurti. It is believed that KP Astrology offers a high degree of accuracy, and hence it has many takers. There are some important differences between KP Astrology and traditional Vedic Astrology.

Vedic astrology is a legacy created by the ancient sages of India. It comes from the Vedas and is believed to be divine knowledge. It is based on the idea that human life and destiny are shaped by celestial bodies like the sun, moon, planets, and stars.

KP Astrology is a system invented by the great astrologer, Prof. K. S. Krishnamurti, to make predictions. It makes use of the Nakshatras or stars, and the factors based on them to make very precise predictions.

There are some differences between Vedic and KP systems of astrology. Let us see what they are.

In Vedic astrology, the predictions are more or less the same for people born under the same Lagna or Rasi. But in the actual world, they do not have the same personality traits.

Vedic astrology makes predictions about the future according to the change of houses. But KP astrology makes predictions about the future using cusps. In KP Astrology, the houses are not equally divided into 12 segments. They are also based on the cusps. Cusp is the term for the point of connection between two houses.

KP astrology gives more importance to the nakshatras or stars (constellation divisions) of the zodiac and that enables more accuracy. They are again divided into 9 parts called subs. In Vedic Astrology, these are not equal. But in KP Astrology, they are equal.

KP astrology makes use of KP Ayanamshas rather than Lahiri Ayanamshas that are used in Vedic Astrology. These two have a difference of 6minutes.

According to the tenets of KP astrology, the planets in their dasha give results as per their nakshatra lord instead of the planet itself.

The stars or Nakshatras are regarded as more powerful in KP astrology because their magnetic waves are stronger.

Only Vimshottari Dasa is used in KP Astrology. Though there are other dasas like Kalchakra, Yogini, Ashottari, and Chara Dasa etc., they are not used.

Vedic Astrology uses the natural auspiciousness of different planets. This has no relevance in KP astrology because it uses a growth factor and a descendant factor. These can automatically accommodate both the auspiciousness and inauspiciousness of all the different planets.

Some KP astrologers do not use all 12 planets. The usage of Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto is a matter of choice for the KP astrologer.

In KP Astrology, the horoscope is slightly different from the traditional Vedic horoscope. First of all, it provides a lot more information. A KP horoscope will show the positions of the 12 planets and the 12 houses. KP Astrology makes use of the Placidus House division system. This system comes from Western astrology, where the houses are not of equal size, as is seen in traditional astrology. In KP, all houses are not of equal size of 30 degrees, so it may be the case that sometimes no house might fall into a sign. Also, sometimes more than one house may fall into a sign.

Despite the differences, KP Astrology is very much a part of Vedic Astrology and is based on Vedic Astrology principles. However, it gives a much better understanding and also provides more accurate predictions. It is always used in conjunction with Vedic (moon-based) Astrology principles for making predictions.

In Vedic Astrology, the horizon is divided into 12 zodiac signs, and in KP astrology the horizon is again divided into 27 nakshatras. Hence, each zodiac sign is again subdivided into 2.25 nakshatras . So, each zodiac sign will have people with 3 different nakshatras and the predictions for them may be different as they will be based on their nakshatras even if they have the same zodiac signs. For this reason, predictions will be more accurate.

For instance, acccording to the KP method, there are 3 nakshatras under Vrischika Rasi (moon-based). They are Vishakha, Anuradha and Jyeshtha. For the current Sade Sati, the three nakshatras will produce 3 different results even if they are under the same sign. This gives a more accurate analysis.

Some astrologers say that certain things that cannot be fully explained using Vedic moon-based astrology , can be better answered by using KP Astrology, with better accuracy too. If you want to learn KP Astrology online, there are plenty of websites that offer KP Astrology classes on the internet.
