City Apartments Vs Suburban Apartments

When you find yourself between wanting to live in a city and living in the suburbs, there are a few differences in the apartments that you will find. Living in either location will be very different, so it’s important to find the style of apartment living that works best for your needs.

City Apartments

City apartments are plentiful ranging in quality from crawling with bugs to looking over the skyline. You can find several apartment complexes in any big city from apartments for rent in San Antonio to apartments for rent in New York City.

With big city apartments, you will usually find that they are smaller in size. This is because complexes have to fit many people in a small amount of space. Also, the prices of apartments in cities are usually more expensive than in suburbs, however, this will depend on specific locations.

City apartments are much closer to food and entertainment. You are likely to find a few restaurants, a theater, and clubs within walking distance or a short bus rides away while living in the city. Speaking of bus ride, you have access to public transportation while living in a city apartment.

Suburb Apartments

Living in a suburban apartment is great if you want to live in a quieter location that is away from the chaos of the city. You won’t have nearly as much going on around you as there aren’t as many entertainment buildings nearby.

With suburban apartments, you don’t have nearly as many options of complexes to choose from. A suburb will only have a couple on apartment complexes so hopefully the suburb has some good options.

Most suburbs don’t have access to transportation. While in the city, you can take a subway or bus to get where you need to go, in the suburbs you are limited to a car. If you don’t have a car, you will have a much harder time getting around.

Suburb apartments tend to be cheaper in their rent as long as you don’t live in a rich neighborhood. Complex owners aren’t as concerned with packing as many people into a building as possible, so rent tends to be more relaxed.

You will also have more space while living in the suburbs. Again, landlords aren’t looking to cram people in, so each apartment has more space inside. Though, this also contributes to the limited number of rental spaces there are in a complex.

Location is Important

Now that you know the differences between city apartments and suburban apartments you can see which kind of apartments align with your needs. Neither city or suburban apartments are necessarily good or bad, that’s why it’s important to research which one is good for you.
