Sexual dysfunction is a global problem affecting both men and women. The most common form of sexual dysfunction in the world, however, is unique to men. Erectile dysfunction (ED) is widespread and has negative implications for a man’s physical and psychological wellbeing.

ED is often a sign of poor cardiovascular functioning meaning that men who experience it are often at higher risk for heart problems and poor circulation.

What Causes Erectile Dysfunction?

Approximately 50% of men over the age of 50 are affected by erectile dysfunction (ED) and research has established a link between chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and ED.

A Turkish study was carried out to compare the erectile functionality of a group of 70 men with COPD to 68 men without COPD. Researchers found that almost 80% of the men with COPD had ED compared to only 56% of those without COPD. This chronic lung disease can affect blood flow but fortunately approved treatment is affordably available.
