In a game where everything can be lost, private islands should act as your anchor point in the world of Albion. One of the core principles of Albion Online will always be the player-driven with Albion Online Gold. A key element for that is that items/buildings or territories will get destroyed at one point. At the same time, however we want to offer the players a part of the world which is more stable then the rest. That’s the goal we want to achieve with our private islands.
For balancing it is imperative to make sure that there is always a good enough reward to build or do something in the open world of. The biggest balancing factor here is the improved resource efficiency, which is a rebate you get when you are crafting in more dangerous zones. So crafting a bow in a red zone instead of your island will cost you fewer resouces. That’s also one of the major points where we can fine-tune and adjust the risk vs. reward in the right way.
Here are some concerns people had which we wanted to address briefly:
1) No one will build buildings in the cities
We doubt this will happen since they are normally a great source of income. The majority of people do not have access to certain buildings and they rely heavily on the buildings built in cities. They are of course happy to pick the cheapest.
FYI: you can select a fee for other people using your buildings and by that have an income by having buildings at public places like cities.
2) No one will claim territories
A territory is always very crucial. As it is a safe heaven in the most dangerous zones and allows you to seek refuge or store your collected goods.
In addition, territories are needed to get access to high-end resources.
3) No one will build buildings in territories
We could imagine that at the beginning most guilds will start building their buildings on islands to have a strong foundation. But after their foundation is settled, guilds will start to build their buildings in the red territories again to gain the economic advantages of the Albion Online Silver. The strong guilds might build their buildings in these areas right away. Keep in mind we are always happy to use fine-tine the crafting to make it profitable.
MOST IMPORTANTLY: if things will not turn out the way we envision them to be we are very happy to act fast (like we did in the past).
