Intellectual Property Talent Search Examination – All you need to know

The Indian Government back in 2018 supported the Ministry of Commerce and Industry’s initiative for launching the nationwide program dedicated to the spirit of innovation and invention. It started with intellectual property examination, targeted towards the Indian youth – school and college students. The objective was to encourage the youth and understand the importance of intellectual property and its rights.

The young Indians can appear for the examination with original and path-breaking ideas. They can win cash rewards and Government backing for registering patents, trademark, for the inventions. Here are a few more information on intellectual property in India and its examination –

• Participation – The IPR Olympiad are meant for schools, school as well as college students. Those belonging to class nine-12 from schools across India, be it Government or private, boys, girls, or co-ed, English, or regional medium schools, can participate in the examination. Sponsored by ASSOCHAM and ERICSSON, students from all streams, vocational or technical colleges, could participate in the examination.

• Course – The content of the examination is such that can be easily grasped by the participants reading and learning levels. However, the syllabus for the school and college students is different, and the latter need to appear for lengthier examinations. All the participants in the exam get access to digital content on the IPTSE website. The course study material is accessible in PDF form. Remember, the content may be encrypted, and there is no option for printing. Any unauthorised use of the content, other than the exam, is a punishable offence.

• Format and structure – The intellectual property examination is an online examination for which the students need access to a decent data-enabled device like desktops, laptop, or tabs for the exam. The exam duration is 45 minutes for school students during an hour for college students. College students appear for five additional questions than school participants. The exams are divided into five sections, and each question should get answered within the given time limit. They are framed according to the Multiple-Choice Questions style.

• Mock Examinations – Participants can take up mock tests which are available on the IPTSE websites. These tests help them examine their speed and accuracy before appearing for the IPR Olympiad. They can also opt for e-mail and SMS alerts concerning the availability of mock tests.

• Registration payment – If you seek to appear for the examination, register for the same by paying a small fee of INR 250. The amount should get made via NEFT,s and the details are as follows:
