Hollow Palm Sunder Slayer is getting serious attention before PoE1 3.29, and the interest makes sense. A recent test showed about 8.7 million mapping DPS, roughly 90,000 effective health, 68% attack block, 65% spell block, 14,000 evasion, and 15,000 armour without flasks. If you're planning the transition, keeping some POE currency aside for the key jewels matters more than chasing a perfect weapon.

Is Hollow Palm Sunder Slayer actually strong before PoE1 3.29?Yes, but the headline numbers need a little trimming. The defensive setup was corrected after a guard skill had been left active by mistake, bringing the estimate down from 101,000 to about 90,000 effective health. The physical maximum hit also sits near 8,800 without a guard skill. That is solid, not invincible. The damage estimate is similar. Around 7.8 million is a fairer bossing figure, while 8.7 million suits normal mapping and temporary effects can push it close to 9.5 million.

What makes the build feel good is the way its pieces cover one another. Sunder sends a wave through packs, so you do not need to stand on top of every enemy. Hollow Palm turns Dexterity into the main source of unarmed physical damage, freeing the weapon slots and making attribute gear much more important. Slayer adds strong leech and damage reduction while leeching. Block, spell block, evasion, and armour then deal with different kinds of incoming pressure. You will still notice big physical hits, but ordinary map damage is much easier to recover from.

Is Sunder Hollow Palm a real day-one league starter? Not in its finished form. One With Nothing and the surrounding Dexterity gear are usually more realistic on day two or three, depending on prices. Start with a normal weapon-based Sunder setup, then change over when your attributes, resistances, life, and block are ready. Do not force Multistrike just because the planner shows more damage. Sunder only keeps one travelling wave active, and replacing it too quickly can make the skill feel clumsy. Attack speed should improve control, not simply inflate the tooltip.

Mapping is where this Slayer shines. Dense packs give the wave more targets, kill effects stay active, and Sunder clears from a safer distance than many slam skills. Bosses are less forgiving because flasks and on-kill bonuses drop away, while every attack animation matters. Stun protection is important too; a character with good avoidance can still die when several hits land during a stun chain. The build can handle awkward map mods with some flask or mastery changes, but no-regeneration maps may require a mana solution. If the core jewels stay reasonably priced, buying cheap POE orbs can help smooth the early upgrade path rather than forcing expensive purchases all at once.
